Molten Salt — The Heat Battery
Molten Salt Thermal Energy Storage is one of the most exciting and cost-effective long-duration energy storage technologies available today. By using excess solar energy to heat specially blended molten salt mixtures to temperatures above 560°C, vast quantities of thermal energy can be stored for hours — or even days — and then converted back to electricity or used directly as industrial process heat with exceptional efficiency.
